JOSEF ŠÍMA: A ROAD TO THE GREAT GAME

Praha - Valdštejnská jízdárna The exhibition waThe exhibition seeks to present Josef Šíma’s early work from his beginnings inBrnoto his encounter with the poets of the remarkable and today somehow legendary French group Le Grand Jeu and show to what extent his involvement in this adventure was one of the key impulses for his work. In the brief period of 1929–1931, Šíma became the chief artist of the group and the other members–poets were busy interpreting his artworks.ill show Kupka’s entire oeuvre, from his early works of the 1890s to his abstract artworks of the 1950s. Owing to cooperation with the French partner, a unique collection of oil paintings, works on paper, prints and documentary material could be assembled, and will be presented in the Grand Palais in Paris in spring 2018, then in the National Gallery in Prague in autumn 2019 (in an altered form) and then the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki in spring 2019.

Kutná Hora - GASK The exhibition presents a series of Sozanský’s paintings, prints and drawings from the late 1960s and early ’70s on the theme of Job and the suffering of Christ together with the more recent series ‘16. 1. 1969’, ‘Place’, ‘Memorials’, ‘Signum Actus / Sign of an Act’ and ‘Locus Actionis / Scene of an Act’ inspired by the martyrial protest of Palach and Zajíc. We can find a mutual link between these series in the moral principle of the ‘suffering righteous man’.

Praha - Museum Kampa Žijící legenda knižní ilustrace a animovaného filmu, Jiří Šalamoun (*1935) se do povědomí několika generací zapsal nejen jako autor výtvarné podoby Maxipsa Fíka; byl výtvarníkem řady dalších animovaných filmů, vytvořil desítky volných litografií a plakátů a vydal také dvě sbírky básní a jednu sbírku záznamů snů. Výstava představí košatost výtvarného jazyka i jednotlivé fáze jeho tvůrčího procesu od prvních skic až po výslednou knihu či animovaný film.
