The photographs Invasion 1968 by Josef Koudelka captured the incursion of the Warsaw Pact troops into Prague, a sudden catastrophe that had a major impact on the fate of our country’s inhabitants. Although he had never engaged in reportages, the pictures he took during several dramatic days in August have become a symbol of the national tragedy and, more broadly, of any military oppression and fight for freedom. His series of photographs has entered the canon of classic post-war reportage photography.
